Palimpsesto is an audiovisual production company created by socio-musicologist Eileen Karmy and musicologist and documentary filmmaker Martín Farías, seeking to link academic research and creative documentary.
From 2011 to date they have produced and collaborated in the making of several documentaries on topics related to popular music, theatre and political activism in different contexts.
Eileen Karmy
Eileen is a socio-musicologist and audiovisual producer. She is associate professor at the Department of Integrated Arts of the Art Faculty of the Universidad de Playa Ancha (UPLA), in Valparaíso. She has participated in either co-directing or conducting research for the documentaries Buenos Aires por la capital (2011), Más cerca de la luz (2014), Canción norteña (2017), Our Voices Resound (2018) and Himno (2023).
Martín is a musicologist and documentary filmmaker. Master in Creative Documentary from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. He has co-directed the documentaries Más cerca de la luz (2014), Canción norteña (2017), Our Voices Resound (2018) and Dolores (2020). More recently, he directed Himno (2023). He currently works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Communication and Image at the University of Chile.
